On August 19, the  Express Entry draw for immigration to Canada selected 600 candidates by issuing an Invitation to Apply (ITA). The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score cut-off threshold for this draw was 771 points

In this draw, candidates in the Provincial Nominee Program Category (PNP) were invited.

The PNP program is one of the many ways Canada shows it is welcoming to a new immigrant to Canada. This program is for workers who:

  • have the skills, education and work experience to contribute to the economy of a specific province or territory
  • want to live in that province, and
  • want to become permanent residents of Canada.
  • Each province and territory has its own “streams” (immigration programs that target specific groups) and requirements. For example, in a program stream, provinces and territories may target:
    • students
    • business people
    • skilled workers
    • semi-skilled workers

Express Entry is an online system that is used to manage applications for permanent residence programs. There are three main programs under the Express Entry — the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class.

Candidates are scored using eligibility criteria for which are awarded points. These criteria are also known as six selection factors, which are your age, education, skilled work experience, and proficiency in English or French, adaptability, and sometimes job offers..
