The Provincial Nominee Program is part of the Permanent Residence program which nominates candidates for the provinces they apply. On April 29, 2020, 589 Candidates were issued invitations to apply for the Canada Permanent Residence program. The CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited was 692.
This program is one of the many ways Canada shows it is welcoming to new immigrant to Canada. This program is for workers who:
- have the skills, education and work experience to contribute to the economy of a specific province or territory
- want to live in that province, and
- want to become permanent residents of Canada.
- Each province and territory has its own “streams” (immigration programs that target certain groups) and requirements. For example, in a program stream, provinces and territories may target:
- students
- business people
- skilled workers
- semi-skilled workers
Express Entry is an online system that is used to manage applications for permanent residence programs. There are three main programs under the Express Entry — the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class.
Candidates are scored using eligibility criteria for which are awarded points. These criteria are also known as six selection factors which are your age, education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French, adaptability and sometimes job offers..
